  • Registered Psychologist/Board Approved Supervisor

Joe has been practicing in psychology for more than 20 years. He has had journal articles about youth mental health and early psychosis published in national and international journals. Joe has presented research at numerous psychology conferences and also regularly trains psychologists, psychiatrists and other allied health clinicians about a range of psychological topics. Joe is a Board-approved supervisor for provisional psychologists and regularly offers clinical supervision for early career and established clinicians. He has had clinical experience working with a significant diversity of clinical groups, including acute (inpatient), sub-acute and community-based clients. Joe has also had extensive forensic experience, working in high security prisons, community corrections and also with justice-involved mental health consumers. Joe has a particular passion for working with complexity. He regularly works with complex needs, trauma populations and has held positions on high-risk panels, advising clinical and non-clinical staff about effective principles of working with complex trauma and severe personality disorders. Joe takes a trauma-informed approach to the development of clinical treatment plans. He is comfortable working from a range of therapeutic approaches and co-plans with his psychology patients how a treatment plan should be sequenced so that his patients have a major influence in the way their mental health issues are treated. Joe works primarily with adults, but is also happy to consider referrals for mature adolescents (16+).
